I have to take a moment to discuss something that is extremely important to me. My friends. Like most social people, I enjoy the company of others. However, I would say that most don't relish in having plenty of amis like me because I truly INVEST in lasting friendships. I'm a pretty hard friend to get rid of because I love loving people. Enough about me, let's talk about this chick.
I'm convinced that Arianna (Ari) Jones is the absolute COOLEST girl I know in every sense of the word. She's talented, intelligent, worldly (but not snooty), and open-minded. I'm psyched to call her my friend because she has a tenacious get-it-done attitude that is so infectious that I can't help but ride her coat tails upon every project and endeavor.
I remember Ari telling me about a year ago that she had just done her taxes for her "shop". I- not being particularly familiar with Etsy at the time and becoming queasy at the thought of filling out any government tax form longer than a 1040- thought "wow", and shrugged it off. But Ari's work-ethic is unwavering when it comes to finishing a project; I would know- she's a fellow fashion design student with me at UNT.
I've watched Ari struggle this entire year to pay for her Shop430 endeavor both monetarily and mentally. The Fashion program at UNT is quite taxing and I honestly don't know how this girl continued to have an active social life, self-made business on Etsy, and remain in the UNT Fashion program. Kudos to her for finding time to create one of a kind earrings, arm bands, and even fashionable fanny packs in her 'free-time'- what other non-art majors may refer to as "sleep time".See her stuff here(http://www.etsy.com/shop/shop430).
Finally, she's getting recognition for her little accessory shop that could. Ari's gotten some well-deserved exposure as "Fly Girl of the Week" in this blog! http://flygirls.typepad.com/fly/2011/05/fgotw-1.html.
I'm so very proud of her and just had to boast about one of many the talented friends that I choose to surround myself with; ever-inspiring me to go for my dreams and to keep pushing until I get a 'big break'.
